A prominant Sunni cleric has said that the Sunni Muslims are enjoying acceptable status across different parts of Iran.
Molana Motahari, a sunni cleric, said during a recent interview that conferences similar to recently-held international summit on unity in Tehran could be very useful on boosting unity among the Muslim societies.
He went onto say that plans and constructive proposal are devised, obstacles are discussed and ideas are shared at such summits. These proposals can be transformed into actions and practical steps.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he praised the steps taken by the Iranian government to improve the situation and status of its Sunni population across Sistan-and-Baluchestan and the Golestan provinces in recent years.
Several sunni Muslims have been posted on high-ranking posts in recent years, he added.
He expressed satisfaction with steps taken by the govenment for the well-fare of sunni Muslims.
It is notable that Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, used to attach a great importance to rights of minorities. Imam emphasized on boosting unity among all Islamic sects and followers of all divine religions under the banner of monotheism.
Imam has been considred as a champion and promoter of unity among the Muslim wrold in contemporary era.
Imam Khomeini called for all devotees of divine reglions to works togather to confront the vicious plans of the colonial powers and take solid steps to strenthen the oppressed nations around the globe.
