Government Week is observed in memory of Rajaei, Bahonar

This week is called Government Week in Iran in memory of those killed in the early years of the Islamic Revolution.

On August 30, 1981, a bombing claimed the lives of top officials including the-then president Mohammad Ali Rajaei and prime minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar.


Government Week (August 23-30) reaches its culmination On August 30,   with the anniversary of the martyrdom of top Iranian government officials who were in office for less than a month.


That government was only in office for 29 days. Government Week is observed in memory of these men.


One of the means used by terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) was acts of terror and many attacks took place in those years but still they haven’t come to an end. Two bombings took place in 1981.


In June a bomb exploded at the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Party killing over 70 party leaders while in August of that year, a bombing claimed the lives of Rajaei and Bahonar.


The terrorist organization MKO was responsible for this attack. It is also responsible for over 300 terror attacks against Iran, some in recent times.
