It Annoys Me if You Don’t Come Here Along With Your Children

At home, the Imam would display a lot of affection for the children. At times when I would pay him a visit and not take my son along with me he would say: “Why haven’t you brought Hussein with you?” I would reply: “Dear father, my son is very naughty and I was afraid he would engage in mischief.” But the Imam would remark: “Is Hussein mischievous! Well children should be mischievous. Moreover, these things are not mischief. You too are making a mistake in saying that children engage in mischief.” When I replied that it would annoy him, the Imam retorted: “It annoys me if you don’t come here along with your children.”

Name of the narrator: Naeemeh Eshraqi (the Imam’s granddaughter)
