Iran’s chess progress owe to Imam Khomeini's dynamic thought

Iran's chess federation chief says the country progress in this field owe to dynamic thought of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh said that Imam Khomeini’s historic religious decree on legality of this game inspired Iranians to compete and advance in chess on domestic level and earn medals in international competitions and contests.

Iranians have become professionals and showed impressive performance in this filed and our participants in international contests have won medals over the past 25 years, the head of Iran’s chess federation noted.

Pahlevanzadeh stressed that all progress and advancement in this field is obliged to Imam Khomeini’s dynamic though and historic decree.

We have made progress in this field to such an extent that Iran is set to hold international competitions and the Women's World Chess Championship, Iran’s chess federation chief pointed out

The remarks come during days when Imam Khomeini returned to the Iranian capital Tehran, which marks celebrations better known as the 10-Day Dawn festivities as millions of people are set to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iran made significant progress in various spheres including sports after the victory of the Islamic revolution under leadership of Imam Khomeini in 1979.
