Iranians vow to pursue Imam Khomeini’s path, ideals

Millions of Iranians have marched and held massive nationwide rallies on the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic revolution Friday.

The nationwide rallies mark the day Iranians, led by the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini. The revolution under wise leadership of Imam put an end to the monarchical rule of the Pahlavi regime in nearly four decades ago

Millions of Iranians took to the streets in cities and towns across the country to mark the 38th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The mass march in Tehran has been one of dozens of such events took place in support of the Islamic-Republic system across various parts of the country.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani joined thousands of devotees at an anniversary march through the capital Tehran.

The marchers brandished placards bearing slogans against new Hawkish US President Donlad Trump as they weaved their way through the streets of the capital in the wintry fog to the central Azadi (Freedom) Square.

Addressing the crowds, President Rouhani said that amateur politicians in the region and America should learn to respect Iran and the Iranian nation.

 The Iranian chief executive also described rallies as a response to the new US administration of President Donald Trump and a rejection of "threatening language".

"This turnout is a response to false remarks by the new rulers in the White House and the people are telling the world through their presence that the Iranian people must be spoken to with respect." President Rouhani said, adding, "Iranians will make those using threatening language against this nation regret it.”

"Anyone threading Iran's government and armed forces should know that our nation is vigilant."

Rouhani also stressed that Tehran will never yield to the language of threats and will strongly respond to any moves by ill-wishers of the country.

The Iranian president also hailed achievements made by Iranians following the victory of the revolution.

President Rouhani underscored advances in the peaceful nuclear program as well as breakthroughs in agriculture, transportation, nano-technology, and other fields.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president also condemned Washington’s illegal seizure of Iran’s assets. He noted that Tehran has filed a formal complaint on the issue at the International Criminal Court in the Hague.

During the massive rallies and marches, the Iranian nation also expressed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.
