Imam Khomeini used to regularly visit holy shrines of the prophet’s household

A memoir about Imam Khomeini Seyyed Hashim Rasouli Mahallati

It has been reported through a series of memoirs that Imam used to attach great significance to holy shrines of the household of the holy prophet of Islam.

Imam engaged in teaching at Islamic seminary and trained thousands of pupils in the holy Iranian city of Qom before being sent into exile in the 1960s. During those years, Imam was always seen at least for once or even twice at the holy shrine of Masoumah, the daughter of the infallible Imam Musa Kazim (PBUH).

Imam Khomeini also spent about 15 years in exile and most of them in the holy Iraqi city of Najaf where Imam regularly visited the holy mausoleum of the commander of the faithful and performed prayers and recited supplications there on daily basis.

Imam gave a great importance to spirituality and believed the purification comes even at the first stage even before gaining the knowledge. Imam used to stress that a scholar who had not rid himself from vices how such a person could decorate themselves with the virtues.
